چکیده

Abstract Study aim : To asses and compare the aerobic capacity respiratory parameters in recreational basketball-engaged university students with age-matched untrained young adults. Material methods A total of 30 subjects were selected to took part study based on recreational-basketball activity level assigned a basketball (BG: n = 15, age 22.86 ± 1.35 yrs., body height 185.07 5.95 cm, weight 81.21 6.15 kg) group (UG: 22.60 1.50 181.53 6.11 76.89 7.30 kg). Inspiratory vital (IVC), forced expiration volume (FEV1), FEV1/IVC ratio, maximal oxygen consumption (VO 2max ), ventilatory threshold 2 VT ) time exhaustion, measured all subjects. Student T-test for independent Sample Cohen’s d as measure effect size calculated. Results Recreational (EG) reached significantly greater IVC (t 7.240, p < 0.001, 1.854), FEV1 10.852, 2.834), ratio 6.370, 3.920), 9.039, 3.310), 9.859, 3.607) exhaustion 12.361, 4.515) compared UG. Conclusions Long-term exposure leads adaptive changes male students.

Weekly physical activity patterns of university students: Are athletes more active than non-athletes?

The aim of the present study was to compare weekly physical activity (PA) and obesity-related markers in athlete and non-athlete university students. One hundred and twenty-six university students (53 males, 20.46 ± 2.04 years old, and 73 females, 19.69 ± 1.32 years old) participated in this study. Participants were fitted with a tri-axial accelerometer (ActiGraph wGT3X-BT, Shalimar, FL, USA) t...
